Are you wanting to do some home renovations this year? What kinds of changes are you thinking of making? Before you jump in, here are some things to consider.
Cost vs. Value
When doing home renovations, you want to think about your cost versus the value of the change. If you’re planning on moving soon, you definitely want to recoup the costs of remodel. If you’re planning on staying in the home for a long time, the Return on Investment (ROI) won’t matter quite as much, but you’ll still want to know what’s worth the change and what’s not.
Remodeling.com has come out with their yearly Cost vs. Value report. Check out their data on Phoenix HERE.

Trends vs. Your Ideas
Again, if you’re planning on selling soon, you want to make changes that will entice buyers. To do this, you’ll want to stay with trends, specifically trends that will bring you more ROI. CLICK HERE to see Realtor.com’s estimate on best renovation decisions for ROI.

Original vs. Change
Overall, you really want to think about the change before you make it. Are you still living in a 1990s kitchen? An update is definitely needed! Think about what you have and what you’re wanting, and then think about your budget. If it’s a cosmetic change that’s not a big deal, but is expensive, maybe rethink your motivation behind it. If you have an updated master bathroom that looks nice, but may not have that stand-alone tub or the white cabinets or glass-doored shower, think about what’s really needed. Maybe make one update to start with. Your bank account will be much happier.
