Home How Trick-or-Treating Can Help you Find your Next Home
October 28, 2016
Halloween is here, which means it’s time to get out the kids’ costumes (and yours) and get ready for trick-or-treating! Although it’s fun to watch kids run around the neighborhood all dressed up, try breaking the normal Halloween routine and make better use of trick-or-treating. Instead of Halloween being a time for your kids to get more sugar than you’ll ever let them eat, use it to find your next home. Here are some ways to do this:
Trick-or-Treat in friends’ neighborhoods.
Go trick-or-treating in one of your friend’s neighborhoods! Not only will it be fun for your kids to have different homes to go to (and for you to have someone to walk and talk with), but it can also get you out in a different neighborhood looking at homes. Even better if your friend lives in a community you have your eye on. Use Halloween as an opportunity to walk around new neighborhoods!
Talk to neighbors.
Halloween is a great opportunity for you and your friends/neighbors to talk. Ask them about homes they know are for sale. They may have some insight that can be useful for you. If you’re trick-or-treating in a different neighborhood, it can also help you get a feel for the people who live there. Does it seem like a community you want to be apart of? Don’t hesitate to ask what they like and don’t like about living there. Getting this insider information can be invaluable.
Check out homes for sale.
Whether you stay in your neighborhood or go to a friend’s check out the homes for sale. If they have a flyer, take one. If it’s one that looks promising, make a note. If the current owners are passing out candy, take the opportunity to ask them about their home. Maybe you could even get a peak in the front door to see what it looks like from the inside. This is not permission to be creepy.
Check out these Gilbert homes for sale. Maybe come trick-or-treating in one of these neighborhoods.

Pay attention to amenities and features.
Even if you’re not looking to move to that neighborhood, look at the homes you walk up to. What parts of the yard do you like? What features of the outsides of the homes are appealing to you. This can help you get an idea of what you like and what you want. The more homes you see, the easier it will be to form an opinion of what you want.
